The present disclosure discloses a method of improving the soil structure of alkaline land by tilling with tilling liner having an upper arm and at least one tiller blade near bottom end, and an adjustable channel positioned on the upper arm of the tiling liner; inserting the subsoil tiller blade of subsoiler into the land such that the bottom end extends into the subsoil layer of alkaline land; and driving the subsoil tiller blade through the alkaline land such that the tilling surface loosens the packed subsoil layer for infiltration of water. The present disclosure also discloses a tilling liner for use in improving the soil structure of alkaline land which comprises a support frame; and at least one subsoiler mounted in front of the support frame, having an upper arm and a subsoil tiller blade at bottom end The study was conducted on agricultural field having poorly drained silt clay loam soil and a long history of regular tillage at the same depth in Karnal (Haryana), India.
